6-year-old boy memorized the entire Quran in less than one year.

Salim Abdulkareem a 6-year-old Nigerian surprised people when he became one of the few people to memorise the Quran in less than one year. The pupil of the Professor Ango Abdullahi International School, Zaria, Kaduna, was said to have started learning to read the Quran in May 2016 and completed the process before May 2017. When asked what he plans to become in future, Salim said he hoped to become a medical doctor, Salim said: “I want to become a medical doctor and my ultimate goal is to contribute to the growth and development of my dear country, Nigeria. If my dream is actualized, I want to be assisting people by treating sicknesses''. When Salim was admitted into this school, he did not know the Qur’anic alphabets or the Holy Qur’an he started from scratch. Salim stood out among other students and will be featured in a Quranic recitation competition in Saudi Arabia. This is the fourth or fifth time we are producing pupils who memorise the Qur’an, and whenever we are invited to attend a competition, whether locally or internationally, our students are amongst the best. Last year, one of our students, Aliyu Shamsuddeen, then a three-year-old, won the second position in the 2015/2016 edition of the World Quranic Recitation Competition in Saudi Arabia. Salim is set to feature in one of the competitions between August and September this year in Saudi Arabia. All arrangements have been completed for Salim to participate in the competition. Apart from that, it will serve as an excursion for him.
