There’s not a day that young children look forward to more than their birthdays, which seem magical to them, as the entire day is devoted to them. On their birthdays, young kids get to enjoy cake and present with their closest family and friends.
Zachary is a 5-year-old boy from Auckland, New Zealand who wanted to make his birthday extra special by having a police-themed birthday. Zachary wants to be a police officer when he grows up, so having his birthday be police-themed was a no-brainer for him! .In order to make his birthday dreams come true, Zachary called 111 (the New Zealand 911) to invite his local police officers to his party. The Counties Manukau police has since released the audio recording of Zachary’s mother calling them to apologize for what her son did.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. That was my nearly five-year-old son, he was just telling me that he wanted to invite the police to his police-themed fifth birthday party,” Zachary’s mother said. The operator accepted her apology and jokingly said that she would ask the officers if any of them would be able to attend. On the day of Zachary’s party, he heard a knock on the door. When he answered it, he was greeted by a squad of police officers in full riot gear! At first, Zachary was nervous, but then they gave him a stuffed K9 toy, which made him realize they were there for the party. The officers made Zachary’s birthday extra special by letting him try on a uniform, turn on the sirens of a police cruiser, and even get an eagle helicopter to fly overhead.“That is the most awesome thing you could have done for that gorgeous boy. Brought a tear to my eye,” Zachary’s mother said. Police are also warning other children not to do what Zachary did.“While our off-duty staff were happy to bring Zachary’s birthday wish to live. We don’t encourage kids calling 111 to invite the police to their birthday,” the police force said in a statement.
