A beef noodle soup dish, commonly referred to as ban means, at a restaurant in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China has gone viral for its ridiculously expensive price tag of 13,800 yuan ($2,015) per bowl. The dish contains four ingredients that come from the “sky, land, and sea,” Sin Chew Daily reported via AsiaOne.
Unfortunately, the restaurant did not specify what those ingredients are. The store’s manager explained that only four bowls have been served to customers since it was first made available to order six months ago. The incredibly steep price had one Chinese social media user saying that the beef noodle soup is as expensive as the actual cow. Other netizens said that the price of the beef ban man is nothing more than a gimmick to attract more customers. The second most expensive noodle soup that the restaurant serves is priced at 398 yuan ($58) and contains 1.2 kilograms (2.6 pounds) of Australian lobster and Cordyceps Sinensis, a fungus that lives on certain caterpillars in mountainous regions of China. One bowl of this expensive beef ban main costs over six times more than the price of the famous Niu Ba Ba found in Taipei, Taiwan which is considered the world’s most expensive beef noodle soup at $329 per bowl.
