Social media users were left baffled after a snake catcher posted a photo of an elusive snake in a kitchen - and asked them to find it and identify it.
The snake was removed from a home in Ninderry, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, by Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 on Monday. The internet was left struggling to locate the snake in the picture, and many were flummoxed as to the serpent's whereabouts. 'There's no snake in that photo,' commented one confused user. 'The newest edition of Where's Wally,' joked another. 'I can never find the snake. The photo displays two brown stools pushed close together with a few magazines lying on top. The post also added that there would be 'extra points' for users who can guess the species. But can you spot it?
It turns out the tiny snake had curled itself around the leg of the right-hand stool. Social media users even went as far as to guess the species. 'Too hard to get a look to figure out the species, but gotta be a scrub python at that size right???' one person commented. Lockie Gilding, who attended the call in Ninderry, identified the reptile as a brown tree snake, Gilding also recognised it as a hatchling less than a year old. Although slightly venomous, such snakes are not considered to be dangerous. Despite its miniature size, one user commented 'even though it's small I'd leave it well alone - some of those small snakes are as toxic as those bigger ones'.
