Man bought girlfriend a birthday present in John Lewis was left shocked by VERY rude message on gift tag

A shopper looking for wrapping paper for his girlfriend's birthday was stunned when he spotted a gift tag that appeared to read 'for you'.Andrew Hawkes, 26, from Manchester, was browsing the shelves at John Lewis to find the perfect gift tag for Josefine Blunk and did a double-take when he spotted the pink and gold label. At first glance, Andrew, a civil engineer, believed the £2.50 Hotchpotch tag read 'for you' due to the font style and the combination of upper and lower case letters. However, on closer inspection of the label, which he spotted in the Trafford Centre branch of the store in Trafford, Greater Manchester, last month reads 'for you'.
And after buying the gift tag Andrew decided to take to the John Lewis Facebook page to point out the unfortunate design.' Not sure your marketing department has thought this one through! For you/ Fok you', he wrote with a laughing emoji, uploading a snap of the tags. And the retailer promptly replied, writing: 'I see what you mean Andrew and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'll pass your feedback to our buying office'. Speaking about the moment he spotted the awkward mishap, Andrew from Manchester said: 'I had to do a double-take when I first saw it.
'I was so confused as I didn't see "for you" at all,' he continued to explain.'I thought maybe it was a practical joke, it just looked completely out of place.'And it wasn't just Andrew who mistook the label's message, as he discovered upon showing his girlfriend. 'When I got back I showed it to my other half and she read it as 'for you' as well,' Andrew said.
'It's strange because they capitalised the 'R' so it's an interesting design that made it confusing to read.'He continued: 'It made me laugh because it's clearly a bit of a mess up on their behalf as they've not noticed what it looks like. They've looked at it and completely missed what it looks like.'No one realised what they've put on the shelf, it was just a hilarious oversight.'It was just out of character for John Lewis who is known to be quite classy, and this one seems to have just slipped through the net.'
The civil engineer was shopping for his girlfriend's 29th birthday when he spotted the gift tag faux pas. Andrew said: 'Honestly, it's something I'd buy for a laugh for my other half especially since it was from John Lewis.' I almost bought it just because of that, it was such an odd item to find.' I'm not normally buy something like that, but it made me laugh. We've had a good chuckle about it.' It's a nice little gift for someone you care about, telling them 'f**k you', he jokingly concluded.
