This is the disturbing moment a pregnant mother is captured on video violently smacking her toddler-aged son to the ground as he cries hysterically. Alazai Gardner, 21, of West Memphis, Arkansas, is seen in cell phone footage captured by an unidentified woman slapping her child in an angry rage. Footage of the upsetting abuse surfaced online Saturday evening. The unidentified witness said she began filming the abuse after seeing Gardner smack the little boy 'multiple times'.The witness rushed to the police station to reveal the video immediately afterwards. Gardner was arrested late Saturday and booked to the Crittenden County Detention Center. The mother has been charged with felony second-degree battery. One resident of her neighbourhood said: 'It's mind-blowing... I don't know how somebody can smack a child like that. I'm glad she got in trouble and got caught.'Another resident said: 'There ain't no telling how many times she did that, or how many times she actually hurt the child.'The West Memphis Police Department said in a Facebook statement: 'WMPD would like to thank those in the community that provided information that helped to quickly resolve this case.'Our Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division worked diligently to get Ms Gardner into custody and to make sure the child was safe.' The child is currently in the custody of the DHS. Further investigation is underway.
