Video: Man Becomes ‘fastest full body burn 100 m sprint runner without oxygen’ world record holder

Jonathan Vero, a firefighter by profession, has earned internet fame. He was able to create two Guinness World Records in a single day. On Wednesday, the 39-year-old French man scorched the records in the longest distance full-body burn in the absence of oxygen and the fastest full-body burn 100-meter sprint without oxygen categories. Since then, Jonathan has been dubbed the “human torch”, and the video that earned him this title has gone viral.
He attempted the daring feat in Haubourdin, his hometown, just 138 miles northwest of Paris. Jonathan wore protective gear, and even in that heavy suit, he managed to cover the distance of 272.25 meters or 893 ft in 17 seconds. This highly intense stunt has earned Jonathan a place in the record books. Vero did not just get up one morning and decide to attempt this dangerous stunt. He had been training for months, meticulously preparing his body and mind for the challenge ahead.
A Passion Ignited and Utilized
You could say that Jonathan began his training for these two world records at a very early age. In later life, this became a passion for him. The daredevil man has dashed into countless burning buildings to save the residents caught inside. As a firefighter, Jonathan has dedicated his life to serving and protecting others. On the other hand, as a stuntman, he has utilized his expertise in fire manipulation to create breathtaking performances. The Guinness World Records shared a video of Jonathan setting the two records on their official Twitter website. The caption read, “New record: The fastest full body burn 100 m sprint without oxygen 17 seconds by Jonathan Vero (France) …Jonathan also set the record for the farthest distance ran in full body burn during this attempt at 272.25 meters!”
Anthony Britton from the U.K. was the previous record holder in both categories. Jonathan was able to complete the dash in 7.58 seconds less than Britton. As the new record holder, Jonathan Vero celebrated his win. He has overjoyed with his achievement and showed his gratitude to his supporters.

The pyromaniac was supported by his friends, who not only helped to train but also accompanied him to the race. They were by his side, ready with fire extinguishers if anything were to go awry. In an interview with the New York Post, Jonathan also expressed his gratitude, saying, “This performance has a lot of meaning for me, for my job as a firefighter, and for the people who trained me and watched me grow”. Jonathan does not intend to stop after winning two records. In the future, he will attempt records in other fire-related categories. He will undoubtedly justify his “human torch” title by continuously pushing his limits.
