King Charles Says 'No Excuse' For Colonial Abuses In Kenya, Fails To Offer Apology

The British monarch, King Charles, on Tuesday, said there is no justification for colonial abuses in Kenya. It was learned that the monarch did not offer the apology some in the East African nation demanded, Barrons reports. "There were abhorrent and unjustifiable acts of violence committed against Kenyans as they waged... a painful struggle for independence and sovereignty. And for that, there can be no excuse," Charles said at a state banquet hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto. SaharaReporters earlier reported King Charles and Queen Camilla had begun a four-day state visit to Kenya, poised to acknowledge "painful aspects" of the countries' long shared history as local leaders press demands for reparations.
On his first visit as monarch to a former colony, King Charles arrived in the capital, Nairobi overnight. He touched down on the official RAF Voyager aircraft in Nairobi at 7 p.m. UK time (10 p.m. local) accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla.
