Will transparent bags change anything about gun violence in U.S. schools?

 
Due to the tragic shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Florida which left 17 students dead, students will now be required to use clear backpacks on campus grounds. This new rule will take effect as students return from spring break next week.“Clear backpacks are the only backpacks that will be permitted on campus,” said Broward County School Superintendent Robert Runcie in a letter addressed to parents on March 21.

Eighth-grader Sandra Parks’ essay about senseless gun violence in her home city of Milwaukee and across the United States and the effects it has on children earned her the third position in her school district’s Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest. Two years down the line, she unfortunately and tragically fell victim to the same thing she was campaigning against; gun violence. Parks’ was hit by a stray bullet while watching TV in her home after several shots were fired at a nearby house.

Former first lady Michelle Obama’s memoir “Becoming” has become the fastest-selling book of 2018 at Barnes & Noble, surpassing the Trump administration tell-all “Fear: Trump in the White House” by veteran journalist Bob Woodward. In addition to being this year’s fastest seller, Barnes & Noble also announced that “Becoming” had the best first-week sales of any adult book since 2015’s “Go Set a Watchman,” the highly anticipated second novel from “To Kill A Mockingbird” author Harper Lee.

South Africa’ President Signs $266 Minimum Wage bill, 6 million to benefit.


South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has signed a new minimum wage bill, local media portals in the country reported. Although signed, the new minimum wage of 3,700 rands (about $266) a month is expected to take effect on January 1, 2019.
