Dutch Doctor Fathered At Least 49 Children After Using His Own Sperm .
A Dutch fertility doctor used his own sperm to illegally father at least 49 children, DNA test results have revealed. Jan Karbaat passed away in 2017, aged 89, but subsequent to his death it was revealed that instead of using the sperm from a chosen donor at his clinic in Bijdorp, near Rotterdam, he used his own to impregnate women.DNA tests were conducted yesterday and they confirmed that 49 children in the case are direct descendants of Karbaat. Imagine finding out that you had 48 half-siblings...Speaking to the MailOnline, Defence for Children - an organisation representing parents and children born through his now-closed clinic - said: "The results confirm serious suspicions that Karbaat used his own sperm at his clinic." Before he passed away, it has been claimed that Karbaat admitted to fathering around 60 children in his time at the clinic which closed in 2009 following reports of irregularities. The case became public after a court ruled that the results of the DNA tests should be made available to parents and children - most of which are now in their thirties. Now, one of the children, named Joey, told Dutch broadcaster NOS that he could 'finally close the chapter' now that he knew the identity of his father. He added: "After a search of 11 years I can continue my life. I am glad that I finally have clarity."Speaking to Sky News, Defence for Children adviser Iara de Witte said: "The judge placed the interest of the child above the right to privacy of Mr Karbaat and his family."After years of uncertainty, the plaintiffs are finally closing a period and they can start processing the fact that they are one of the many descendants of Karbaat."The BBC reported that Mr Karbaat was initially taken to court in 2017 by a group of donor children and their parents over suspicions they were related. It was claimed that one of the cases involved a child who physically resembled the doctor who once referred to himself as 'a pioneer in the field of fertilisation'...
Woman Crashes Into Wall After Spotting Spider In Car.
Many of us aren't too keen on spiders all those beady eyes staring up at us, those eight legs ready to pounce at any given moment. One might pop up while you're watching TV, only to scuttle off under the sofa before you've had a chance to even consider if you're feeling brave enough to remove it. But hopefully, your arachnophobia hasn't led you to crash your car, as one woman in America recently did.
