Grateful woman gives her stepfather the greatest Christmas gift he could ask for.

Candace Precious Terry is a 24-year-old from Georgia who just gave her stepfather the Christmas gift of a lifetime. When she was just 3 years old, her mother got married to Vincent Raven, whom she’s known ever since as the father that raised her. When she approached him as a teenager to ask how he felt about marrying a woman with a child, Raven responded saying that Terry was one of the biggest reasons he wanted to marry her mother.“I was the light of his life,” Terry says, “and that truly warmed my heart. I have seen my dad sacrifice and bend over backwards for my family.”This year Terry decided to make her commitment to her father official as well, by telling him that she was in the process of changing her last name to match his. In a post to her Instagram account, the young woman shared a video of the sweet moment with a message to her father.“When I was the age of 3, you came into my life and treated me just like I was your own!” Terry wrote. “Thank you for being the best dad in the world! You’ve always supported me, gave me the best advice, you moulded me into the young woman I am today! My best gift yet to my dad, Vincent Raven!”The precious moment comes after a year of struggle, as Terry admits to having battled with not knowing who her biological father is. However, her mother provided her with a reminder of what truly matters most.“She reminded me that it doesn’t matter who my biological father is, but that I’ve always had a supportive dad who has treated me like his own,” Terry shares. “When we go out into the city, people see us as one, and I’ve even heard people tell me that we look alike. This whole year I knew that I wanted to make the change, and I felt that Christmas would be the perfect occasion.”With the help of Terry’s loved ones, she came up with the idea of engraving a cup with all her siblings’ names on it — including her own modified name, Candace Precious Terry-Raven. The video she shared captures the moment when her father sees each name and makes the realization himself. And with nearly 400,000 views to date, Terry-Raven hopes that her own family moment can inspire love within others.“I want people to know that family love is the best and that you should always cherish your family,” Terry-Raven says. “We should love each other unconditionally, no matter if we are blood-related or not.
