Diners recreate the world's most famous photo eating atop a 450ft girder.

Look away now if you're afraid of heights, as new snaps show how a group of intrepid diners recreated one of the world's most iconic photographs by eating their lunch atop a 450-ft high girder.
The original photo, Lunch Atop A Skyscraper, was taken in 1932 during the construction of the world-renowned Rockefeller Center in New York City in the midst of the Great Depression to show that American was still building, progressing and working. Eighty-six years later, members of the public won a competition to enjoy the most perilous meal of their lives by recreating the famous image 32 floors above the ground at one of the tallest buildings in central London.
Among them included George Glynn, who is believed to be a descendant of Sonny Glynn, an Irish immigrant working in New York at the time who is pictured on the far right of the original image the same spot that George occupies in the recreation. The original photograph, snapped by an unknown photographer, is a cultural watermark that has been parodied, referenced and copied countless times over the years. It originally appeared in the Sunday supplement of the New York Herald Tribune.
This year's recreation in London at one of the tallest buildings in London Bridge, which cannot be named for legal reasons, was organised by food delivery service Deliveroo to celebrate a 210 per cent rise in outdoor food orders due to the summer heatwave. A handful of lucky members of the public entered a free ballot to eat takeaway atop the girder just like in the original photograph, and they tucked into dishes from pizzeria Firezza, a vegan restaurant by Chloe, KFC, and cake shop Konditor & Cook. Although the meal looks perilous, all the diners were safely harnessed so they would not have been able to plunge to their untimely deaths. Dan Warne, UK and Ireland managing director at Deliveroo said: 'Deliveroo has been committed to delivering the most amazing food experiences all summer, whatever the weather, be it to the beach, a park, at home or 450ft in the air.
'When thinking about infamous lunches, the photograph from Rockefeller Center is hard to beat, but we thought we might as well give it a go.' Deliveroo launched the sky-high meal after commissioning research which found that that millions of British workers have fallen into a cycle of boredom when it comes to office lunches. According to its data, seven in 10 of the 1,500 polled said they were stuck in a rut when it came to their office lunches, yet one in four say they talk about what they are having for lunch daily. The research found a third of Brits eat exactly the same thing every day, the average Brit has a repertoire of just three different meals they rotate, and ham sandwiches are the most popular lunch option, followed by cheese and tuna mayonnaise.
