Can you spot the child drowning in a public pool?

This is the heart-stopping moment an eagle-eyed lifeguard is forced to take emergency action after spotting a child drowning in a public pool.

The lifeguard can be seen jumping swiftly out of her chair when she notices the swimmer in distress at the pool, believed to be somewhere in the US. Footage posted to YouTube channel Lifeguard Rescue shows a young child floating into the deep end of the pool using an inflatable ring but losing her grip. As the inflatable floats away the child is left thrashing around in the water with their arms in the air while calling for help. Luckily for the youngster, the lifeguard is close by and reacts with lightning-fast speed. After jumping into the pool with her emergency life float the rescuer swims out to the child and drags them back to the safety of the shallow end. Deaths by swimming are prevalent throughout the United States, particularly in public swimming pools. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that 390 deaths a year on average are attributed to drowning in a swimming pool or at a spa. While 76 per cent of drowning deaths in the United States each year involved children younger than 5 years old. And the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that an average of 4,900 people received emergency care for injuries suffered in a swimming pools or spas
