A youth corps member currently serving in Cross River left many people stunned after she took to social media to share a photo of a family comprising a man, his wife and their 3 kids, all mentally challenged in Ogoja, Cross River.
Identified as Progress Oberiko, she revealed that not only are they always sighted together, they also communicate in fluent English, making the puzzle about how they became mad even more complex. The family is always together, trekking under the scorching sun. Sometimes they are even seen in the market, making inquiries about where to buy items, just like a normal family. From the photo shared, it appears they have been mentally ill for a very long time judging from their clothes and hair. I have been trying to get this shot for the past five months and whenever I tried, they either walk past too quickly, change direction, or not just close enough.
