Saudi Arabia violates the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child by repeatedly targeting Yemeni children at schools and in buses, says a commentator. Colin Cavell, the former lecturer at the University of Bahrain, told Press TV that “the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child found numerous discrepancies with Saudi behaviour in Yemen.”“They (Saudis and their allies) have bombed schools in Yemen” and “they have killed 6,500 children since March 2015,” Cavell said. “So, they are repeatedly violating this UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.”The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child on Monday denounced the deaths of children in Saudi airstrikes on Yemen as it examined the Saudi record on compliance with a treaty protocol on children in armed conflict. “Yet what the UN committee has said [Yesterday] is that no one in Saudi Arabia has been held accountable for all of these killings of children.”“What Saudi Arabia gives to the world is mere lip service but as far as action is concerned they continue to kill children in Yemen,” the academic said.
