Europe in grip of big freeze as brutal weather causes chaos across the continent.

Brutal weather is continuing to plague Europe with parts of the continent hit by extreme snowfall. Blizzards around the continent have been blamed for at least 26 deaths this week, including skiers in Austria and Norway.
States of emergency have been declared in Germany and the Balkans, while a huge avalanche smashed through a hotel in Switzerland. The winter chaos has also closed off roads, caused severe disruption on train services, and shut schools. Winds speeds rose to 111mph from Storm Jan at Stekenjokk which is close to the Norwegian border. Meanwhile, railway lines in the Alps were shut because of the snow. Lorries and cars also became stuck for hours on a highway in south-western Germany.
