Poundland Blasted As Sexist Over 'Appalling' 'Booty' And 'Boobies' Marshmallows
Ordinarily, at Poundland, you know what you're going to get and that's lots of stuff for a pound. But some customers have been shocked recently by the discovery of arses and tits in the store's 'novelty' confectionery section, which contains items aimed at children. The marshmallow booty and the marshmallow boobies, described as a 'cracking pair', have been on sale in the store for 50p. So that's boobs and a bum for a pound. The packaging for the booty marshmallow depicts a cartoon of a woman in a bikini next to the words, 'squidge my cheeks'.But some customers were quick to point out the sweets may not be appropriate for children, claiming the discount retailer was profiting from sexual objectification. One Twitter user wrote: "What exactly are you trying to say with these products, Poundland, to the families who come in store?
"No sign of any male things to sexually assault. No testicles to grab at? Why do we have candy like this, usually made for children?"Yeah, come on Poundland, where the hell is our 'Jelly Cocks'?! We're bored of snakes. She later added: "I know they are marshmallows and I understand that marshmallows aren't 'the end of the world'."But I also know that sexual objectification is linked to violence and, for companies, profit."Corporations create and profit from sexual objectification but don't want any responsibility for it. We need to call them out on this."She was among many on Twitter who were outraged by the marshmallows: Another said: "Poundland, can you explain why on earth you are selling these sexist products?"Have you thought about the impact they might have on women & children reading the packaging?"

Available in the Children's sweets aisle at your local Poundland.
I see that looking for Pork Gelatine in my sweets is now the least of my concerns
A spokesman for Poundland has defended the sweets, pointing out that customers are not forced to buy the marshmallows. He said: "Here at Poundland, we think it's OK that sometimes we don't always get it right for everyone."Because frankly, it's impossible to do that. Just because someone doesn't like something we do, we also believe that doesn't give them the automatic right to stop us doing it for thousands of other people who like it."If something's offended you, we won't force you to buy it. It's fine for you to look the other way and ignore it."
