Spectacular Pictures Of The Stars From Yellowstone National Park.

A photographer from Kansas has taken these incredible pictures of the Milky Way galaxy from Yellowstone National Park and the results are breathtaking.
Professional photographer David Lane spent four months camping out at Yellowstone National Park in order to get some amazing shots of the milky way and as you can see from his pictures below David’s patience paid off. David Lane’s photos appeared on the Huffington Post and was classed as one of the best astronomical pictures of the year. His work has also been Nasa’s astronomy picture of the day six times. This 58 year old Astrophotographer has been capturing images of the night sky since 2011 and his work just seems to be getting better and better. But these are no ordinary photos, David creates breathtaking effect by increasing the airglow saturation by 10% instead of decreasing it. There is quite a bit of skill involved and one picture can be made up from 16 combined shots. Yellowstone Park is a nature reserve that was established back in 1872, it was the first national park in the world and covers around 3,472 square miles.

It has more than 300 active geysers, over 290 waterfalls and is home to hundreds of different species of wildlife. It has become a popular place with tourists and has been visited by over five million people. The only downside is that the area is prone to earthquakes. Between one and three thousand tremors are felt annually in the Yellowstone park but it doesn`t put visitors off coming here. Yellowstone National Park is a fun place to visit any time of year. In Spring there is an abundance of wildlife, roaring waterfalls and wild weather. Summer has it all but it is also the busiest time of year with huge crowds turning up to marvel the spectacular views the natural park has to offer.

Fall is also a special time of year as the colors change and animals scurry about in preparation for the coming winter time. In Winter the park is often covered in snow making it a spectacular site to see. But did you know that Yellowstone park actually sits atop one of the world’s largest volcanoes? The Yellowstone caldera, left behind by an eruption 640,000 years ago, is approximately 1,000 square miles. This is why there are so many geysers spewing hot water into the air. It is also home to the Grand Prismatic Spring which is the third largest hot spring in the world. It’s located in the Midway Geyser Basin and is 121 feet deep. Yellowstone National Park is also home to the largest, free-roaming herd of bison in the world not to mention all the other wildlife at the park. The tallest geyser at Yellowstone National park is the Grand Geyser, which blows on average twice a day, for around 12 to 20 minutes in a series of powerful bursts that shoot up to an incredible 200 feet (61 m).
