Wedding at first sight - Couple marries within 4 hours of meeting

A couple who met for the first time at a Durga Puja pandal in West Bengal on the night of Ashtami got married within four hours of the meeting. Sudip Ghosal and Pritama Banerjee developed romantic feelings for each other after meeting on Facebook, however, they never got an opportunity to meet in person. They accidentally met on Sunday while they were enjoying Durga Puja festivities at a pandal in Kolkata. Sudip (35), who hails from Hind Motor in Hooghly district, proposed Pritama, who runs a boutique, and they got married within four hours. The woman lives in Seoraphuli in the same district. "Till that night, we had seen each other only during video calls. We met in the Sealdah area and I proposed marriage," Sudip, who works for an international optic lens brand, said. "After I proposed, we decided to return to Hind Motor. She rode pillion on my motorcycle and her friends followed us in a car. On the way, while we were talking, we decided to get married right away. All Pritama wanted was 'sindoor' (vermilion) on her forehead. I had no issues because I don't really believe in rituals," he added. "I have deep faith in Devi (Goddess) Durga. So, getting married before her in a puja pandal without any ritual was enough for me," Pritama said. he added that her parents are conservative, but have accepted the union. Sudip's mother, Alpana Ghosal, said that she is very happy with her daughter-in-law. "We could never meet in person before October 6 because our work schedules always clashed. We did not even know that we would meet that night. I don’t know whether it was coincidence or divine intervention," Sudip further said. The couple is now planning a social marriage.
