China shuts down prominent Christian church
Beijing officials have shut down one of China's largest "underground" Protestant churches for operating without a licence, the Communist government's latest move to ramp up control over religious worship. Dutch prisons are closing because the country is so safe
In 2013, 19 prisons in the Netherlands closed because the country didn't have enough criminals to fill them. Now, five more are slated to close their doors by the end of the summer, according to internal documents obtained by The Telegraaf. While these closures will result in the loss of nearly 2,000 jobs, only 700 of which will transition into other unknown roles within Dutch law enforcement, the trend of closing prisons follows a steady drop in crime since 2004.

A WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE was dismissed from his €37,585 post after being found to take and consume half the contents of a soft-drink bottle costing less than €2 while on the job. The worker sued for unfair dismissal but the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has found that the warehousing and distribution company was fair in sacking the man. In the case, WRC Adjudication Officer, Roger McGrath found that the worker on 14 February 2017 took a soft drink from a pallet in the warehouse and consumed half the contents of the bottle before putting it back on the pallet.
