Mum Shocked To Find 'Racist' Toy Inside Kinder Egg
An Aussie mum says she was left in shock after opening up her little boy's Kinder Surprise to find a 'racist' toy. Mum Kimberley, from Victoria, said she picked up the egg for her 15-month old son Alexander last weekend, but when she opened it up, she found a white Kinder Egg figure holding three balloons, collectively bearing the letters 'KKK' the same initials as white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan. Kimberley said"Initially we laughed in shock. It was kind of like, 'Are we seeing and reading this right?'"However, once the initial shock wore off, Kimberley said she 'felt sick' at the thought her son could have played with the toy.

She continued: "As soon as you open the package the toy comes in two parts."One is the egg and the other is the balloons with 'KKK' written on them."As soon as you see them - you notice it."I mean, you do have to wonder who on Earth would sign off on this? Yes, of course, K is also the initial of Kinder, but it does seem faintly ridiculous anyone could have opted for three balloons, all with K on them, without anyone else flagging up that it could be problematic."This is a massive oversight that anyone could have seen," Kimberley added."It's also hard to find something to say as the initials of Kinder Surprise aren't 'KKK'.""It raises questions as to what the company supports and if this is subliminal marketing."So, Kimberley decided to write to Kinder Eggs' parent company Ferrero Rocher to ask about the meaning behind the toy. She was told that the toy was part of a limited-edition run to celebrate 50 years of Kinder Eggs, which had since been 'withheld from the market' and 'destroyed'.A statement from the company read: "We sincerely apologise for any offence caused due to the inference of how the three Ks read together on this toy."As detailed in the note to our consumer, initially it was designed with one balloon with a 'K' on it."However, two more were added to provide a more robust structure, as the safety and quality of our toys are of the utmost importance."We had absolutely no intention to make associations with the Ku Klux Klan and we truly apologise to our consumers for any unintentional offence caused."We do not support this organisation in any way. The K on the balloons was solely meant to represent Kinder. We can inform you this toy, which was part of a limited edition for Kinder's 50th birthday, has been discontinued."Stock from this toy range has also been withheld from the market and destroyed."Rest assured, we are revisiting our internal processes to ensure something like this cannot happen again. It was never intended for this toy to be offensive, and we would like to extend our sincerest apologies again."In addition, any consumer who has received the toy in question can contact our consumer services to arrange a replacement, if they wish."

Black student sues school because they said she was too dark to dance.

An African-American student is taking a school to court for racial discrimination after she was told she was ‘too dark’ to perform during a school dance. Camille Sturdivant, who graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School in 2018 and was part of the 14-member Dazzlers dance team claimed that choreographer Kevin Murakami commented that her skin was too dark and would distract the audience from other dancers and that it clashed with the colour of the costumes. The lawsuit further indicates that the school’s former dance coach, Carley Fine, had been fired after texts between her and Murakami revealed their mistreatment of Sturdivant over the colour of her skin after she won a spot in the Golden Girls dance team at the University of Missouri. According to the texts, both Fine and Murakami were not amused she won the spot since she was a black girl.“THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE. I’m so mad,” the Murakami wrote. To which Fine replied with, “It actually makes my stomach hurt,” and “Bc she’s (expletive) black. I hate that.”Although the school claimed that Fine was fired and was not allowed near the school and Sturdivant, the suit revealed that she was seen at the school and with members of the dance team, reports the Kansas City News. Following her complaint of racial discrimination, Sturdivant claimed that she had been ostracized by the group. For starters, she learnt that the team banquet paid for by parents that had been cancelled had gone on without her. At the final dance performance, all other dancers except the black students had ribbons on their costumes with the initials CL for the former head coach. The black students were also excluded from a photo shoot afterwards. Sturdivant’s suit names as defendants the school district, principal Amy Pressly, Fine and Katie Porter, the parent of another dancer on the team and a school district teacher. It seeks unspecified damages a statement, the school district said that it is taking claims of discrimination very seriously.“Respectful and meaningful relationships between staff and students are at the heart of Blue Valley’s culture. Discrimination of any kind has no place here. The District expects staff to treat all students with respect at all times, and any report that this expectation has not been fulfilled is taken very seriously. As stated in the Complaint, on May 1, 2018, Mrs Sturdivant showed Dr Pressly the text message between Mr Murakami and Ms Fine. Ms Fine’s employment with the District was separated the following day on May 2, 2018.”The other defendants haven’t yet responded to the suit.
