Worst foods to feed your kids and what to give them instead.

seeing your child suffering from itchy and inflamed skin is not something that any parent wants to see. Once you've tried every emollient and cream going, most mums and dads are willing to try any tips that could help ease symptoms. Nutritionist Karen Fischer says it could be as simple as making some small dietary changes, and has highlighted certain foods little ones who are prone to eczema should avoid as they worsen rashes. After her daughter Ayva struggled with the rash, she spent 10 years researching eczema and inflammatory skin conditions and has now published a book about her research, The Eczema Detox.
Dairy products such as cow's milk, yoghurt, cheese, ice-cream, desserts, sheep and goat's milk should be minimised for children prone to eczema. Karen also said that egg whites and deli meats are worth avoiding - as well as soy sauce. Fruits like grapes, oranges and kiwi, unfortunately, could also worsen symptoms according to Karen, as could dried fruits. She also suggests steering clear of avocado, broccoli and tomatoes. Never fear though, there are plenty of other foods the nutritionist suggests that, from her experience and extensive research, work wonders in reducing rash symptoms. Vegetables like beetroot, spring onions, red cabbage are good shouts, she told the publication. She also recommends the potato, debunking the idea that they are void of nutrition.
She said: "White potatoes are a rich source of antioxidants and vitamin B6, and a good source of potassium, magnesium, copper, manganese, vitamin B5 and dietary fibre for healthy bowels and clear skin."Proteins such as fish have a positive effect on the skin, according to Karen. She also praises pears as they "reduce the risk of inflammatory diseases" and encourages eating papayas thanks to their "lycopene content" which protects skin from sun damage.
