17-year-old manages to fight off GRIZZLY BEAR using repellent spray after the animal attacked.

A 17-year-old Montana boy is lucky to be alive after fighting off a grizzly bear when the animal attacked on Sunday. The teen was treated and released with minor injuries from the Madison Valley Medical Center in Ennis, Montana the same day. Wildlife officials say the attack happened around 2pm in Wolf Creek, an unincorporated region about 30 miles south of Ennis, where the teen and his family were staying in a rural cabin. The victim told wildlife personnel he was searching the woods for shed deer antlers when he heard a 'thump' behind him.
He turned around and saw the bear charging towards him.' The bear pushed him up against a tree and held him there momentarily' Montana's Fish, Wildlife & Parks department said in a statement released on Monday.' When the bear let go, the teen fell over and attempted to crawl between two trees and protect his head and vitals.' Fortunately, the 17-year-old had a can of bear repellent in his backpack, but before he could grab it, the animal pinned him face-down on the ground. Even though he was pinned, the teen was able to reach over his shoulder and retrieved the spray from his pack, spraying the bear, which made the animal flee. The teen was able to walk himself out of the woods and make radio contact with his family, who took him to the hospital before calling wildlife authorities.
'Based on the teen's description of the bear's behaviour, the animal was most likely a grizzly bear,' the state wildlife department said.' The bear's behaviour in this incident appears to be typical of surprise close encounters. [Montana's Fish, Wildlife & Parks Department] will continue to monitor the area, which is well within the occupied bear habitat.' Bear hunting season in Montana begins on April 15. The state wildlife department warned outdoor adventurers to be wary during the active season for bears in the spring, summer and fall months. Officials advised wilderness goers to carry and know how to use bear spray, travel in groups, avoid animal carcasses, and store food properly.' If you encounter a bear, never approach it. Back away slowly and leave the area,' officials said.

Marble steps 'climbed by Jesus' uncovered for the first time in 300 years.

A staircase claimed to have been climbed by Jesus before his crucifixion has been unveiled after 300 years hidden, in time for Easter. The 28 white marble steps were covered in protective walnut by Pope Innocent XIII in 1723. But the wood was removed yesterday for restoration and thousands of Catholics are now set to flock to the stairs, which they ascend on hands and knees to atone for sins. Restorer Paolo Violini, from the Vatican Museums, said: “We thought this opportunity was important.“No one had ever thought to be able to climb the marble stairs.“It was simply restoration work of the wood. The moment we saw what was underneath, the idea came to open them publicly.”Some Christians believe the Scala Sancta steps were climbed by Jesus before he was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem.
They are thought to have been taken to Rome in the fourth century AD, where they now lead to the Sancta Sanctorum chapel.According to Christian tradition, four spots of Christ’s blood stained the steps. Three are marked with ancient crosses.

The Dividends of Practicing Patience.

Patience is the ability to wait. If that sounds easy, then you’re fortunate. When you’re in a hurry, waiting can be especially frustrating. Unexpected wait time can feel as if the universe refuses to cooperate with your schedule, wasting resources you don’t have with hassles you don’t need. But patience teaches a valuable lesson: when circumstances are beyond your control, it’s time to shift your focus to what you can control.

Outrage as Chinese company donates beer as part of drought aid to Kenyan village.

A Chinese mining company has caused a stir after it donated 20 cartons of a China-made beer to a drought-stricken village in Kenya as part of food aid including 300 bags of maize and 20 cartons of cooking oil. The Ghuanshan International Mining Company Limited’s donation on Friday at the Katikati village in Tiaty sub-county, Baringo, received cheers from the villagers who tore many bags during a scramble by young men for the Tsingtao beer brand, reports Kenyan local media The Star.“Locals in this area love liquor and I saw it fit to include it as part of food donation to the hunger-ravaged villages. We also donated more than 300 bags of maize and cooking oil,” said the Chinese company’s director Han Ke who is quoted by Nairobi News. The company is reportedly eyeing to set up a diatomite factory in the area and decided to undertake the donation as its corporate social responsibility. Ben Todonyang, a resident of the village, told Nairobi News that: “We are really thankful to get beer in this remote village. We have been hard hit by food shortage and the beer will come in handy as well so that we can enjoy ourselves and forget the myriad of problems.”The company is reportedly eyeing to set up a diatomite factory in the area and decided to undertake the donation as its corporate social responsibility. Ben Todonyang, a resident of the village, told Nairobi News that: “We are really thankful to get beer in this remote village. We have been hard hit by food shortage and the beer will come in handy as well so that we can enjoy ourselves and forget the myriad of problems.”However, religious bodies and health officials have condemned the donation which was done in the presence of the Tiaty MP, William Kamket. The SDA Church led by women ministers condemned the donors for taking advantage of the suffering of the people, reports Nairobi News.“We are perturbed as a church that some well-wishers have opted to take advantage of Kenyans suffering from hunger and instead of taking the food they give them liquor. We are condemning such acts and insist that if you are for a good course in addressing their plight then give them food,” said Anita Too.“There are children who are suffering from malnutrition in the area due to acute food shortage and instead of even taking milk you decide to give them beer. We feel that it is being insensitive to them taking into consideration that they are eyeing to invest in the area,” she added. Kenya’s Director of Public Health Dr Kepha Ombacho told The Star that the gesture was not just wrong but dangerous.“This is just unacceptable. Beer is not food. You cannot introduce alcohol to people who are already starving,” he said, adding: “While we welcome people of goodwill to support, it must be proper food fit for human consumption.”Many similar reactions were also shared on social media condemning the company’s decision to add beer to its food aid as more important items could have been provided.
