A failed attempt at the viral craze known as the “KiKi Challenge” landed a teen girl in the intensive care unit. Anna Worden, 18, was critically injured last week when she jumped out of her car in Bettendorf, Iowa, to record the dance challenge, news station WQAD reported. The challenge, which has taken off on social media, dares people to get out of moving vehicles and perform choreographed dance moves to the Drake song “In My Feelings.”Since she was a toddler Worden has been a dancer, so she wanted to try the new trend, according to WQAD.“We were over by the roundabout, and I thought it would be a fun idea to do the Kiki Challenge,” Worden told the news station about the July 23 incident. But what the teen said seemed “easy” proved to have dangerous consequences.“The last thing I remember was opening the door,” Worden said. “So apparently I got out and tripped and fell and hit my head.”Emergency responders rushed the unconscious teen to a local hospital, where doctors determined she was critically injured. She was then airlifted to a medical centre in Iowa City with a fracture in her skull, blood clots in her ears and bleeding in her brain, WQAD reported. Her injuries were reportedly so severe that she was placed in the ICU.“When we got here and I finally gained consciousness in the ICU, that’s when it hit me like wow, I’m actually in the University of Iowa hospitals because I tried to do some little challenge everyone’s doing now, and I’m the one that got majorly hurt,” she told the station. Worden who has to re-learn to walk wants to warn others about the risks involved with social media challenges.“Be more careful about the challenges and fads that are going around,” she said. “It may seem fun, and it may seem easy, but at the same too, they could be so dangerous.
