Police treating murder of boy, 14, as 'targeted attack'.


The murder of a 14-year-old boy who was struck by a car before being fatally stabbed is being treated as a "targeted attack".The teenager, named by a relative as Jayden Moody, died after being knocked off a moped and stabbed in the back seven times. According to officers, a car collided with the victim's scooter before three males emerged and knifed him before fleeing the scene. Efforts to trace this vehicle, which is believed to be a black Mercedes B Class with extensive frontal damage, continue. In a statement today, police said the community is "shocked and appalled" at a murder which "beggars belief".DCI Larry Smith from the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "Everything that we have learned about this attack so far indicates it was targeted and intent on lethal force from the outset."We are doing everything we can to catch those who carried out this cowardly attack and bring them to justice."
The victim's uncle Josh Grant wrote on Facebook: "Rip to my little nephew stabbed 7 times today in London can’t believe I’m never gonna see you again. Uncle Josh will never forget you."Despite paramedics' best efforts, the 14-year-old was declared dead at 7:09pm. Photos show floral tributes at the scene near a bloodied pavement. His next of kin have been informed and a police crime scene has been put in place.No arrests have been made.
A local resident said there has been trouble recently between two local gangs battling a post-code war namely the ‘Beaumont Crew’ and their rivals ‘Oliver Close’.The resident said: "They fight regularly. There are loads of knives being carried around. It ain't safe to be walking around here at night either."Police are currently in the preliminary stages of their investigations, but they have not ruled out the likelihood of a gang-related murder.MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy shared her condolences on Twitter yesterday night.
