Dad Finds Note Left by Previous Owner after buying his daughter a car.

When a dad in Kentucky bought a used car for his daughter, he was surprised to find a letter slipped inside, which was addressed to him, is the new car owner. He admits that he did shed a tear or two when he read it. On Feb. 2, 2017, Kevin Duke wrote on Facebook that he bought a used car as a gift for his daughter’s 16th birthday. When he was checking the car to make sure it was safe, he opened the storage compartment on top of the dash and found a rubber mat inside. He decided to pull it out, and that was when he saw an envelope addressed to the new car. The letter was from the previous owner, Sabrina Archey, who shared the history of the car. She wrote: “To the person that gets this car, I just wanted to let you know what a special vehicle you’ve bought. This car belonged to my mum. She passed away Feb 25, 2015, in a house fire along with my 6-year-old daughter and my aunt. The last time my mum drove this car was the day she left us. Her and my daughter went out shopping and got their haircut.”Archey went on to describe how much the car, named Sylvia, meant to her. She wrote: “This car holds a lot of special memories for me. My home and everything in it is gone, this car is all that I had left to touch. There was a mix up with paperwork and that’s caused the car to not be paid off by the insurance. It’s very upsetting that I have lost my family, my home and now I’m losing this last link I have with my mum and child through no fault of my own.”She hoped that whoever is the new owner of the car will treat it with respect. The letter read: “Love, joy, and adventure were had in this car. So now that it’s yours, please remember it isn’t just a car. It’s a memory. This car, with all its quirks, is the last piece of my family. Be nice to it.”Archey ended the letter, mentioning that she hoped she would be able to buy the car back when she was in a better financial situation and wished the new car owner all the best. “Be blessed, be happy, live and love like we did. I wish you, and Sylvia, all the best!”The story was soon shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page, which Archey saw. She left a comment: “I can’t say it enough, how amazing Kevin truly is. He did not have to let me know that he found my letter. He didn’t have to share our story here. He was touched very deeply, as most of u have been, and felt like he needed to share my letter for the message that it was meant to convey.”Duke started to raise funds in order to buy a new car for his daughter, and so that “Sylvia” can be returned to Archey.
